FAMILY HERITAGE
Before there was a boutique, there was a craftsman going door to door.
The business's published history begins with Borris Taubin in 1922, after his arrival in South Africa.
He offered shoe-repair services door to door in Braamfontein before opening the first repair shop in Hillbrow in 1927. The next generations expanded the concept, and the Shoe Care name was formally established in 1971.
First shop
The first shoe-repair store opens in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.
The Shoe Care brand
The family's repair concept develops into the Shoe Care brand.
Eastgate
The family moves into the then-new Eastgate Shopping Centre, beginning the chapter that remains central to the business today.
Sandton expansion
